Voice Coaching, Speech Lessons, Dialect Training For Actors - New York
"Shane Ann is deeply invested in the growth of each one of her students which allows her to be tough when she needs to be but she is also one of the most encouraging and supportive people I have ever met.

My speech work with her enabled me to eliminate a sloppy “s” sound as well as my Mississippi accent.”

Shane Mcrae

S
hane Ann teaches a voice and speech program which consists of lessons to develop a resonant, flexible, versatile voice so that the actor has the ability to meet the demands of all types of language including voice-over copy, commercial copy, television and film scripts, and classical texts. Classes are structured so that each technical tool leads to the next step. All of the speech exercises are connected to the voice work. In the Advanced Class, work on Shakespeare's texts is an integral part of the program with classes on scanning the lines, building a speech, expressing contrasting ideas and finding clues in the text.

Shane Ann teaches private classes as well as group classes.  The private class is shaped to meet the individual concerns of the actor and can include audition coaching for contemporary or classical monologues, or speech classes for accent reduction.  She also works as a dialect coach.

New York actors working on scripts for New York based television shows have found Shane Ann's coaching to be very helpful when preparing for a guest role or for a recurring character on a soap opera.Speech Improvement skills taught by Shane Ann have been used by lawyers, stock brokers, advertising executives, television announcers, other corporate leaders and teachers. These skills include learning effective communication techniques, accent reduction, developing a resonant voice and having confidence when speaking to groups.

Accent reduction, voice and speech classes, lessons dealing with breathing, supporting the voice, resonance and vocal variety are all offered by Shane Ann Younts in group classes as well as in one on one sessions. Dialect coaching is also available for actors preparing an audition or for actors who need coaching with a role they have been cast in.Dialect coaching, accent reduction and a complete program that includes voice work, speech classes, and work on the texts of Shakespeare are some of the classes that Shane Ann teaches. She also coaches actors in professional productions.

Voice and speech classes, including work on accent reduction for non-native speakers of English are offered by Shane Ann. In addition she coaches professional actors who are preparing a role for Broadway, off-Broadway, film and television. Dialect coaching is also available.

The complete program of voice, speech, text work and Shakespeare begins each October. Classes meet twice a week. Auditions and interviews are held in the Spring and early summer for actors who are interested in this program.

Lawyers, corporate executives, and radio and television reporters and politicians have worked with Shane Ann on their presentation skills, vocal support and the ability to clarify the ideas of the text they wish to communicate.

In addition to voice and speech work, the program includes extensive text work. When actors have completed the program they know that their training gives them the ability to do anything from voice-overs, to cold readings for commercials, to classical material.
